Some HVAC Questions Answered

When you have an HVAC system it relies on you to take care of it properly in order for it to continue to heat, ventilate, and cool your home properly. If you only recently moved into your home that has an HVAC system or you only recently had your HVAC system put in, you probably have a lot of questions about it. You'll be able to find some answers right here:

How often should your air filter be changed?

When you are trying to take good care of your HVAC system, one of the main things to know is just how often the air filter needs to be changed. In some cases, someone may be able to go a couple of months or so before changing the filter. This may be true if your home has no pets in it, there are no smokers in your home, and there is not a lot of pollen-producing foliage in your yard. However, if you have any of these things, then you may need to be changing yours on a more regular basis.

How do you lower your energy bills while using the AC?

One of the best things that you can do to keep your energy bills down is to keep the system in good shape by making sure you have it serviced each year, and this should be done before you begin using it. You want the home to be well-insulated. If the attic hasn't already been fully insulated, this should be done. Tinted double-paned windows should be installed. Don't have the HVAC system needlessly running on nice days when the open windows will do or when no one is home. Have problems repaired by a professional HVAC technician.

Is it better to repair or replace your HVAC system?

If your system is old and starting to need more repairs, then you should have a new one put in because the situation is only going to get worse the older it gets. Also, if you have a home automation system that your older HVAC system won't integrate with, then you should have a new one installed. However, if you have a newer system that does everything you need it to, it just has a single issue you needed to have repaired, and the HVAC technician has told you its still a solid system, then you should have it repaired and keep it.
